The Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) has been participating in several fun activities this fall.
In November, students from UAA volunteered at Unity House, a non-profit in Troy that provides supports to those in need. Students helped set up their Holiday Store, which provides clothing and toys for families throughout the holiday season. UAA students helped move boxes and hang up clothing.
On Tuesday, November 26, UAA visited Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga. The students engaged in team building and worked on communication while interacting with the horses, many of whom have been rescued from the racing industry or abusive environments. Students had to problem solve to get the horses to approach them and work together to figure out why the horses were not coming near.
Special thanks to the Honors College for hosting a game night for UAA students. Students had a great time meeting others and engaging in fun games.
UAA is a program for students with autism who are learning a trade in the CNC Manufacturing industry while also learning social skills and soft skills they will need to land jobs in CNC.
